Senior Agronomist / General Manager

Geographical Area: Hoedspruit and Letsitele, Limpopo Province

Industry: Citrus

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications: BSc Degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, – Nutrition and Irrigation management

Experience: At least 5 years with a proven track record:

  1. Agronomic principles, specialized focus on citrus crop nutrition and irrigation methodologies
  2. Conducting field trials and experiments

KEY COMPETENCIES

Responsibilities:

  1. Conducting field trials and experiments,
  2. Data collection – using scientific research to evaluate nutritional and irrigation needs
  3. Develop and manage nutritional and irrigation strategies that maximize crop yields.

Knowledge:

  1. Managing and implement crop nutrition and irrigation best practices
  2. Gather, compile, analyse and interpret test results
  3. Agronomic nutritional and irrigation guidance and support

Skills:

  1. Outstanding research and analytical skills
  2. Field trials and experiments, data analysis
  3. Reporting and recommendations based on experimental findings

Experience:

At least 5 years with a proven track record:

  1. Agronomic principles, specialized focus on pruning methodologies
  2. Management and implementation of value adding, effective pruning strategies, industry best practices,pruning methodologies and factors.

KEY COMPETENCIES

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and manage pruning methodologies as a central strategy for optimal production volumes, yields, export pack outs and revenue.
  2. Right pruning approach, practices, at the right time, of desired fruit sizes, improved fruit colour, quality and better rind quality.
  3. Assessment, data collection followed by corrective action and application of best practices

Knowledge & skills:

  1. High level of understanding the purpose and timing of pruning Citrus
  2. How to develop and manage pruning methodologies as a central strategy for optimal productionvolumes, yields, export pack outs and revenue.
  3. Identify and follow the right pruning approach, practices, at the right time, of desired fruit sizes, improved fruit colour and quality and better rind quality.

Qualifications:

  1. Senior certificate/Grade 12

  3. Experience and ability setting spray and fertilizer program
